My wonderfully trendy (think pottery barn, pier one, ect) and easily bored (ie, we've had that thing for almost a year! i'm tired of looking at it!) neighbors just got done spring cleaning and before it all goes to donations guess who got an "exclusive" invitation for first pick!? Just waitin by the door for sun to come up ;D
Finally got my shoppin done, took longer then I thought! Got two sets of foot & head boards for twin beds that have the spindles (painted a scary bright purple, but free ;D) marble pedestal table that I'm going to tear apart and make into a birdbath and this wood "suitcase" type box that was used to hold a music instrument, way back when.....its just screamin' for some decoupaged travel stickers! That filled up the back of the van There was so much more there I wanted, but dh is just starting to lose the facial tick from the mention of this invite, so I have to plan my next move carefully Burny- ya I kinda had an idea what might be there, I not above tellin' them that I want "that" when they get tired of it! It's kinda win win, I always "over plant" my garden seedlings every year and the timing is just perfect for them to need homes at the same time spring cleanup comes around!
You are soooo lucky to have neighbors like that. Wish I did - oh, forgot, then I'd have to have neighbors!!! and that's why we like living here in the back of beyond - no neighbors (actually they're there - about 1/2 mile away.
Yours seem like the best kind tho to invite you for first dibs.

I live in a bad neighborhood with a lot of shooting and bad stuff. I made nice with my 4 closest neighbors and they thought it was great. I take them veggies from the garden, homemade salsa and stuff, and handmade decor, too. Now, if I need help or something, they all look out for me. That's very rare in the city. Richmond has a lot of racial discord, too, so we must be "abnormal." I'm the only white girl in the bunch and I love my neighbors to pieces! That's why I can't understand all the fighting all the time. We're not black and white, we're people!
I'm with you Lucky, love 'em but could leave 'em for some space! That's why we moved to this state, space, unfortunately everyone else did too. (a year later!) We have a revolving door for strays, be it people or pets and sometimes the neighbors aren't as happy to meet our new friends as we are ;D. Space would be good! Sounds like where I grew up, doc. There was a different culture represented in every house on our block and it never occured to me 'til I got older and part of the "adult" world that there was any difference in our skin color- we were never defined by that. Today, all the time, I hear people say things like " the caucasion lady, jane" or "the spanish guy, john", and it irritates me that even though they are trying to be politically correct they're missing the whole point. It gives me great pride today to see that my kids are the same way I was as a kid, clueless, you could say. And I hope to heck that growing up doesn't ruin it for them.....
